| In a letter written by her daughter Ida she tells that her mother used to go to balls at the Eagle Hotel in Waterford as a young woman of 20 years old. At a Christmas Ball she described the dress: Her dress was crimson silk and the skirt was five yards wide and a white silk fishue around her neck and crossed over at the waist and white silk pantlets tied in below the knees and came down to touch the tops of her feet trimmed with lace knit with goose quills. And her fishue was trimmed with lace. | |
