Obituary: Death Claims Grant Johnson Grant E. Johnson, Spanish American War veteran and well known Corry resident, passed away at his home, 581 E. Main street this morning at 1:30 o'clock, following a three week illness. Mr. Johnson, who was born in Columbus, June 1st 1874, the son of Elliott and Alice Eddy Johnson, had lived in this city and vicinity practically his entire life. He was a painter and paper hanger by trade and was well known throughout this section. Besides his widow Mr. Johnson is survived by three sons, Arnold, Howard and Orville, and one daughter Josephine, all at home. Mr. Johnson served in the Spanish American War under Captain J. F. Austin of this city in Company A 16th regiment and was officer of in Lieut. Clyde D. Wilcox post Spanish American War Vets of this city. Funeral services conducted from the late home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with interment in West Lawn Cemetery in Columbus. Source: Corry Historical Society |
