W. B. Howard, agent for the Erie Railroad at Columbus for many years, died at his home 266 West Washington street this morning at 7:30 o'clock, after a long illness, Mr. Howard's condition had been critical for the past several weeks and death was not unexpected. The deceased, who was born in Columbus, April 3, 1868, was practically a life long resident of that place. He served as agent and telegraph operator for the Erie Railroad at Columbus for many years, and was well and favorably known along the division. Mr. Howard was transferred to Corry about eight years ago, and had been employed by the railroad at the Maple avenue tower until illness forced his retirement. He had long been prominent in the affairs of the Masonic fraternity, and was a member of the Blue Lodge, of Columbus, Royal Arch Chapter, Clarence Comandery and was also affiliated with the Erie consistory.  Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, one son W. Burdette Howard, of Cleveland, and a daughter Mrs. Samuel R. Hatch, of Milwaukee, Wis. There are also three grandchildren, Margaret, Barbara and Joan H. Hatch of Milwaukee. Funeral services in memory of the well known resident will be held from the late home on West Washington street, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. L. L. Woodin, of Luthersburg, Pa, formerly of Columbus will officiate.
