Obituary: James L. Hall of Columbus Stricken at 74
Columbus lost one of its best known residents and active boosters in the death of James L. Hall, prominent grocer and citizen, who died at St. Vincent's Hospital at Erie Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. Mr. Hall suffering from a chronic condition had been a patient in the Erie Institution since August 29th. Born in Spring Creek township on October 4th 1865, Mr. hall spent his entire life in this vicinity, where he was well and favorably known. He had operated a grocery store at Columbus since 1922 and had taken an active part in every project of community betterment. He was an enthusiastic of the Men's Club which has been active in the past years in the welfare of the town, while he was also ever ready to give of his time and money to other efforts of benefit. Columbus looses a fine citizen and a real booster in his demise, Mr. and Mrs. Hall celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last November. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Loveland Hall and three daughters, Mrs. Frank Dodd and Mrs. Ellen Blanchard of Columbus and Mrs. Frank Faulkner, of Tionesta. There are also six grandchildren and one great grandson, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services in memory of Mr. Hall will be held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Dodd, at Columbus Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery
