Marriage Announcement: Corry Couple Wed at Ripley Miss. Lucille Gates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Gates, Corry, R. F. D. 2, and Elwood Baccus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Baccus, Columbus, Pa., were married by Rev. Mr. Reed Thursday at Ripley, N. Y., at 3 o'clock. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bemus. A bounteous wedding supper was served at 9 o'clock by Mr. and Mrs. William Coons at their home on First avenue. Decorations were in pink and white, with sweet peas and pink candles. About thirty guests were present. A reception followed during which music and singing by Mrs. Inez Mecusker, and cards finished a delightful evening. Obituary: Elwood Baccus, 71 Elwood W. (Hap) Baccus of 424 South Center street died yesterday afternoon following an extended illness. He was born August 14, 1903 in the Blue Eye area, where he was raised and educated. He worked for 15 years at Corry Jamestown and was employed by Spiesman Plumbing. He was a self-employed plumber for many years prior to his retirement in 1968 due to ill health. Mr. Baccus was a member of the Corry BPOE Elks, the Moose Lodge, the Stanford Hose Company, and the Corry Rod and Gun Club. In 1927 he was married to the former Lucille Gates, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews and a brother Arthur, of Corry. Friends may call at the James. St. George Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 and attend services there tomorrow at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. R. Merriman officiating.
