Obituary: Oldest member of CHS Alumni Association Margaret D. Alexander Elston, 102, of the Colonial Terrace Personal Care Home, 771 E. Columbus Ave., died Tuesday March 17, 1998, at her residence. She was born in Corry, Dec 21, 1895, daughter of the late Cassius L. and Melinda A. Cody Alexander. She was a 1916 graduate of Corry High School. She was the oldest living member of the CHS Alumni Association. She had spent her adult years raising and caring for her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Corry, and enjoyed reading, cooking, and collecting family photos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney B. Elston, on April 9, 1968; they were married June 16, 1920 in Corry. Survivors include a daughter Martha E. Moore of Corry; two sons, Sidney B. Elston Jr. and his wife Janice, of Newton Square, Pa,. and Cassius A. Elston of Edinboro; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Corry, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Scofield pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry. Memorials may be made to the Corry Public Library, 117 W. Washington St. Corry, PA 16407 |
