Obituary: Lawrence H. (Stub) Chapin Edinboro - Lawrence H. (Stub) Chapin, 93, of Edinboro, died Saturday, Oct 15, 2005, at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. He was born in Rockdale Township, Feb. 9, 1912, the son of the late Guy and Mabel Flaugh Chapin. Mr. Chapin was employed as a railroad engineer. He started at the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad in 1927 at age 15. He became an engineer in 1942 and worked there until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of Oasis Masonic Lodge 416, Zem Zem Shrine of Erie. He as a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro, had served as an elder, and was instrumental in building the new church. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Chapin, in 1998; a sister Meredith Steinhoff; and two brothers, Edson and Hubert Chapin. He is survived by one niece, Mary Jane Thomas of Cambridge Springs; and two nephews, Lynn Steinhoff of Fairfax, Va., and Richard Chapin of Chicago, Ill. Friends are invited to the memorial service at Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie St., Edinboro, Wednesday at 11 a. m. with the Rev. John Dietaz officiating. Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery.
