Obituary:
Walter B. Gillette, Butter Creek resident, passed away in Portland, Tuesday evening January 16th, after a long illness. Mr. Gillette had been suffering from Brights disease for several months. Since December 15th he has been at the home of his sister in Portland. The body was brought to Echo yesterday and the funeral will be this afternoon from the M. E. Church. Rev. Cook will have charge of the services at the church and the Odd Fellows will attend the burial. All of the members of the Gillette family except Mrs. Tompkins of Los Angles and Mrs. Zinn of Lewiston, are here today to attend the funeral. Walter B. Gillette was born March 8th, 1871 at Cordova, Minn. and he died Jan. 16, 1917 in Portland, Oregon, aged 45 years, 10 months and 8 days. He moved with his parents to Echo, in October 1883, and in 1891 married Lollit B. Benedict. To them were born two daughters, Meda V. and Ellita M. He is survived by his father, W. F. Gillette, five brothers and three sisters as follows: H. B. Gillette, of Carrols, Wash., M. H. Gillette of Ione, W. W. Gillette of Pendleton; A. B. Gillette of Echo,
G. A. Gillette of Hermiston.
