Barton-Dunnigan
About fifty guests gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Dunnagan last evening to witness the marriage of their daughter, Lillian to Lonn T. Barton, of this city. The ceremony was very pretty. Miss. Mable Persons, of Westfield, N.Y. acted as bride's maid and Miss. Ida Tillotson as maid of honor. Mr. Fred Barton was the best man. The bride wore silver gray Lansdown trimmed in white and carried a bouquet of white carnations. The maids wore pure white with pink carnations. The rooms and table was tastefully decorated in pink and white. Refreshments were served and the guests departed leaving behind their many pretty gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Barton will be at home to their many friends at 27 Concord street, where they had their home all ready to go into housekeeping. (Oct. 23, 1902)

Our dry spell is over and the first rain of the season began falling today. This is the first time since last March.

As this is the third year that I have spent in the Golden State I would like to spend the holidays in the old home town, but as I haven't the available collateral to purchase a round trip ticket and no other would do, I will remain here for some time to come.

The climate is the one most enjoyable factors of life in California. The soil offers some of the finest opportunities to be found in the country. Sweet potatoes bring as high as $250.00 to the acre, table grapes $125.00 to the acre to $175, Wine grapes from $60 to $90 an acre and Alfalfa as hay for market from $65 to $90.
Butter sells at 47 c and eggs for 45 c, apples two cents a pound, potatoes at one and a half cent a pound.
Watermelons and cantalopes produce from $150.00 and $300 to the acre. Peaches a valuable crop but I am not posted on them. A hired man on the farm gets from $35 to $50 a month and his board. If any of my friends care to know more of the wonders of the San Joaquinn Valley I will be glad to answer them.
