Ethelyn was the first female Commander of American Legion Heisler-Johnson
Post 119, Largo, FL - 1968 Her hobbies were genealogy, crossword puzzles, painting and traveling. She also loved cats and had many as household pets over the years, even a somewhat feral cat named "Ed" would come scratching at the door when a "FL " storm was on the way. She was never too busy to listen to all the problems or joys of her many relatives and friends. She had great talent as a painter and did portraits of many family members and friends in addition to doing many beautiful landscapes and other paintings. She worked for many years as an inspector at Honeywell, St Petersburg, FL. When the computer was recovered from the Challenger she was called back to Honeywell to inspect the computer of the main engine, she said " They really looked terrible but the memory was intact. It showed the main engine computers had worked perfectly." |
