Newspaper Article: Sept 30, 1927 Lytle Range, one of Columbia county's best known pioneer residents, celebrated his seventy ninth birthday on Saturday, he never uses a walking stick but as is his custom on his birthday he carried the slender gold headed cane he was presented when a party of six early settlers of Dayton celebrated their three-score years at Fictenwald on Eckler mountain 20 years ago. The hosts at that memorable birthday party were J.D. Israel, Frank Jackson, Matt Riggs, Henry Pringle, Henry Watrous, and Lytle Range, the first three of whom are no longer living. When the seventieth birthdays of the remaining ones were reached they had an all-days party at the Peabody place on Syndicate hill and it is the intention of all of them to have a fitting celebration when they pass their eightieth milestone. |
