Extract of letter written by daughter Abigail: In the year 1825/26 my father and his brother Giles came to Erie Co,. Penna. and settled in Waterford township near Lake Pleasant. The each bought fifty acres of land from the government and began to clear the land and make homes for themselves. They lived alone for five years when father was married. Father died in Venango township and is buried in Lowville Cemetery, Aug 27, 1851,
aged 49 years 6 mo and 13 days.
