Obituary: Mrs. Charles Morgan Calista Perry was born on the old Perry homestead west of Lake Pleasant in Waterford township June 5,1839. She was the third daughter of Truman and Jane Donaldson Perry. When she was four years of age her father moved to what is now the Will Yost farm north of Lowville. There her life was spent till she married Charles Morgan, May 11, 1863. To this union were born ten children, five of whom are living, namely: Miss Ada, at home, Truman of Wilmington, Delaware, Dan of Erie, Pa., Mary Cole, of Delhil, Pa., and James of Franklin, Pa. They resided on a farm in Greenfield till 1902, then they moved to Wattsburg. Feb 17, 1921, she had a stroke of paralysis from which she never recovered, but has slowly failed till the end came, just as the day was breaking, Nov. 27, 1922. She is the last one of her father's family to be laid to rest. She leaves her aged husband, besides her children and great grand-children to mourn her loss. She has been tenderly cared for by her daughter, Ada, and James who has spent his vacations at home caring for her. She was a member of the Greenfield Baptist church and of the W. T. U. She was a dear sweet woman, whom to know was to love. Funeral services were held at the house on Thanksgiving day. Sermon by Rev. L. A. Roberts of the Greenfield Baptist church. She was laid to rest at the new cemetery at North East. |
