Son of Porter
Franklin & Dorothy Jane (Smith) Morton. Verne and his brother Neil
lived on the family farm in Groton, New York. Verne was a teacher
and well known photographer. After Neil bought his first automobile
in 1913, Neil & Verne traveled the northeastern United States and
photographed the rural landscape and it's inhabitants. Their frugal
lifestyle was supported by the family farm which was originally
established by their great-grandfather, David Morton, and an
inheritance from a carriage and wagon business originally
established by their grandfather, Adin Morton. Many of Verne's
photographs can be found at the Dewitt Historial Society in Ithaca
which were donated by his brother Neil after Verne's death. Source: Findagrave |
